2019 Spring Baseball

Important 2019 Spring T-Ball Information

Age groups will be 3 and 4 year old in which will play strictly off the tee. Each kid will have a round to hit per inning.  Age group 5 and 6 year old will be pitched 3 balls. If still not able to hit, will have the opportunity to hit off the tee. Each kid will have the opportunity to hit during an inning.  Age group 8 and Under will be strictly coach pitch, the batter will get 5 pitches and will be called out on 3 swinging strikes. If the fifth pitch is fouled, the batter continues to hit until either hit fair or swinging strike. 3 outs per offensive outing for the 8U division. The 10 and Under division will follow little league baseball rules and have live kids pitching throughout the game.

The 8 and Under coach pitch group will have an end of the season playoff. An All-Star team will be entered into the GRPA district tournament.

Season: Registration will begin March 4th and end on April 19th. The season will start the week of May 13th and the regular season ends June 21st.
– Practice for all age groups will start the week of April 29th.
– Practice days and times will be handed to the coaches at the coaches meeting.
– Schedules and jerseys will be handed out by the coaches during the last week of practices
– A coaches meeting will be held on Monday, April 29th at 6 PM at the Grove Ave. field. Location listed below. @ 6 PM
-You will not get the official roster until the coaches meeting.

Games will be played at three different fields. Field one is the field on the corner of West Oneida and Grove Ave, across the street from 1507 Grove Ave. Field two and three is the fields directly behind Wal-Mart.

3-4 Year Old T-Ball

. Each batter will hit off of the tee.

• The player only advances one base after the ball has been hit.
• If the ball is hit outside the foul line, then it is a foul ball and the child will bat again.
• The ball must travel 10 feet away from home plate to be fair.
• When your team is batting, one batter in the batter’s box and one in the on-deck circle. All the other players need to be in the designated team area until it is his/her turn to bat.
• It works well to have a parent/coach to organize the players when it is their time to bat.
• All players will bat and all players will play in the field.
• All players in the field must be behind the playing line before the batter is allowed to hit.
• When all players have batted one time around the teams will then switch and the other team bat.
• Each game is played for 3 innings unless agreed from both coaches to play only 2.
• Trophies will be handed out at the last game.
Cancellation of games will be posted on YMCA Facebook, YGametime.com and coaches will receive email or Text.

5-6 Year Old T-Ball

8 and Under Coach Pitch

8U Coach Pitch – There are only 3 outs per inning. The game is played to the end of the 6th inning or an hour and half time limit. Each kid will be thrown 5 pitches. Called out if they have a swinging strike of 3 balls. If last ball is foul, then the child will have the chance for another pitch.

This age group will have a end of season tournament. The coaches will select an All-Star team to compete in the 2019 GRPA tournament. Dates TBA.

Rules

Offense
1. After (1) one warning per game, per player for slinging her/his bat, the batter will be out, a dead ball
called, and no runner advance.
2. Batter will receive (5) five pitches before being declared out.
3. Batter will be called out on (3) three swinging strikes.
4. If (5th) fifth pitch is fouled, he may continue to bat.
5. If (5th) fifth pitch is fouled and caught it is an out.
6. If batter squares to bunt and then swings, he will be called out; this will be umpire’s judgment.
7. Any base runner leaving the base before the ball reaches home plate is out. (Penalty: The ball is
dead and all other runners return to base occupied prior to pitch – Umpire’s judgment.) The pitch
will not count.

Defense
1. No rolling the ball intentionally will be allowed.
2. The infield fly rule will not be in effect.
3. Only (10) ten players on the field (6) infielders (including pitcher & catcher) and (4) four outfielders.
4. The defensive player listed as a pitcher will stay in the (10) ten foot circle until the ball is hit. The
player/pitcher may have (1) one foot outside the circle. (Penalty: Offense gets choice of the play or
no pitch).
5. Play shall not be stopped by the defensive team heading off or stopping the front runner. Trailing
runners may advance at their own risk.
6. If a player is injured by being hit with a batted or thrown ball, time out will be called immediately.
Bases will be awarded/outs will be called at the umpire’s discretion based on each individual
situation.

 

All-Stars

  • To be considered for all-star selection, the child must play in the appropriate age group during the season.
  • District tournament location TBD. State tournament location.
  • All-Star selection – Each coach will submit 5 players from their team to be considered. Coaches from each age group will then select the all-star team from that group of players.
  • Playing time is not guaranteed on an all-star team.
  • Birth certificates must be provided for children of an all-star team.
