John Paul is SCW Personal Trainer
certified.  His other specialty certifications are SCW advanced functional trainer, SCW Pilates Mat work fundamentals trained, and SCW Schwinn Cycling trained instructor.
John is a personal trainer and group wellness instructor at the YMCA.  You’ll find him at the Y helping others reach their goals or teaching a class.  Visit with him informally to learn how he can assist you or take one of his group wellness classes.  His goal is to inspire you every step of your journey.

   In addition to offering free orientation of the YMCA exercise equipment and group exercise classes, the YMCA offers individual personal training. A personal trainer is a fitness professional who develops and implements an individualized approach to physical wellness plan. The trainers generally work one-on-one with a client, helping them reach their individual wellness goals. The YMCA trainers may help an individual assess their level of physical wellness and help motivate them work towards a personal fitness goal.

Crystal Winn, the YMCA’s Wellness Director, directly oversees the Personal Training program. The YMCA has developed a large pool of trained and skilled professional trainers, both male and female. Having such a diverse group of trainers allows the Y to meet almost anyone’s wellness goal. The training team has the ability to offer services to most any client, from the teenage sports training to geriatric.

Clients interested in the personal training services start the process by being screened through an interest survey and a one-on-one interview with Jill Sloan. The process allows the client to be very involved in selecting their trainer. From there the client is matched to a professional that meets their needs.

Team Lean
What is Team Lean?
Team is is a 10 week health and wellness competition sponsored by the Childers Family YMCA and businesses in our community. The 2011 dates are January 1 – March 16. Teams are comprised of 4 – 5 people that compete to lose inches during the competition. Cash prizes and gift baskets are awarded to the top team and individuals at the end of the competition.
