Afterschool – Ages 4 – 12

After School Program registration OPEN!

We offer pick-up from most Ware and Pierce County Schools!

A fun and exciting program for students in PreK through 5th Grade.

Physical Development

Students enrolled are able to utilize the Y’s Youth Fitness Zone which includes cardio equipment and a resistance circuit that is appropriate for children ages 7-12. Students may also enjoy our new rock-climbing wall during scheduled times.

Character Development

Students participate and learn about golf with the Y’s First Tee Golf approved curriculum. The First Tee teaches children about golf while instilling in them character traits to help them develop positive mental attitudes toward themselves and others.

Students are served healthy snacks when they arrive each day and are encouraged to eat good foods and drink plenty of water. As part of the Y’s healthy initiative, healthy drinks and snacks are offered in our vending machines. Georgia is one of the most obese states in America, and it is up to us to help shift this trend and make our children healthier.

Y buses pick up children from most Ware and Pierce County Elementary schools and bring them to the YMCA.

Children are supervised by trained counselors at least 18 years of age. Before being employed by the YMCA, all employees are required to pass a drug test, criminal background screening, and commit to 10 hours of training.

The YMCA After-School Program is licensed to provide childcare through Bright from the Start.

We want you and your child to have a pleasant experience here at the Childers Family YMCA. Below is an explanation of the many different activities your child will be engaged in while enrolled in the After School Program.

Devotion – After School participants enjoy a daily devotion led by their counselor. This will either take place in our Belle Farr Chapel or weather permitting it may take place under our large shade tree at the track.

Playground – The children are supervised by their counselor while enjoying our newly renovated playground. For the safety of your child, there is NO public usage during times when YMCA children are present.

Rock-Climbing Wall – The children are supervised by their counselor while enjoying our rock-climbing wall.

Arts and Crafts – Our arts and crafts area is equipped with many different types of supplies.  This allows the kid’s imaginations to run wild with creativity.

Outdoor Fields – The Y-Timers use the outdoor fields for fun, active play.  The activities range from whiffle ball to kick ball and anything in between.

Picnic Shelter – The After School Program utilizes the picnic shelter Area for many different uses such as board games, arts and crafts, or even science experiments. The possibilities are endless.

Learning Garden- Children are able to learn about agriculture by tending, harvesting, and maintaining the YMCA garden.  The garden area also has a composter.

Gym – The YMCA’s basketball gym can be used for countless amounts of different activities such as basketball, volleyball and dance. On rainy days we utilize this space for many things such as indoor whiffle ball, catch, duck-duck goose and more.

Sports Court – The outdoor sports court has a built in shuffle board court and basketball goals. The younger children enjoy using sidewalk chalk to decorate the concrete and love blowing bubbles on sunny days.

Racquetball Courts – The racquetball courts are a great place for wall ball and dodge ball.

Billiards, Foosball, and Air Hockey– The older children are accompanied by their counselor and utilize these fun table games.

Healthy Kids Zone – The Multipurpose Kids Zone Room is currently the hub for After School. This is where our lockers for the children’s book bags are located and snack is served.  There is also an indoor playground.
