Camp Reveille Camper/Counselor Scholarship
For over 40 years, the Childers Family YMCA has been hosting Camp Reveille. This camp benefits deserving children who are from the southeast Georgia region. The median income for the selected area is 43% behind the national average and 24% of families are below the poverty line. Many of these children would never have an opportunity to attend a Summer Camp. Camp Reveille is dedicated to providing scholarships for all campers. The camp curriculum incorporates positive character development through the four core values – Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. Camp Reveille is under the direction of Jason Pridgen, who has been with the camp for over ten years. The Waycross Service League and The Monroe Foundation joined forces to raise money needed to endow the scholarship.

This year, Dawo Menter, is being awarded the scholarship. Dawo was a camper in 2000 and a counselor from 2008-2010. He is a graduated of Ware County High School 2010 (GPA 3.48) and currently attends LaGrange College where he is playing football.
“The love the kids gave me and the love I was able to give them in one week lasted an entire year. I, myself, felt this love as a camper and I couldn’t wait to return the love”
Dawo Menter.
