We want you and your child to have a pleasant experience here at the Childers Family YMCA. Below is an explanation of the many different activities your child will be engaged in while enrolled in the After School Program.
Devotion - After School participants enjoy a daily devotion led by their counselor. This will either take place in our Belle Farr Chapel or weather permitting it may take place under our large shade tree at the track.
Playground - The children are supervised by their counselor while enjoying our newly renovated Playground. For the safety of your child there is NO Public usage during Programing hours

Racket ball Courts - The Racket ball Courts are a great place for Wall ball and Dodge Ball.
Billiard Room - The older children are accompanied by their counselor and get to utilize the Billiard Room.
MPR - The Multipurpose Kids Zone Room is currently the hub for After School. This is where our cubbies for the children’s book bags are located, snack is also served here and there are multiple games located in the MPR such as Air Hockey, Foosball and an Indoor Playground.
We attempt to stay on schedule but due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather or other programing we may have to change our schedule.
Activities
The Waycross YMCA’s After School Program curriculum runs Monday through Friday from 1:30 pm – 6:00 pm. We take full advantage of our multiple acre campus and the spacious 47,000 square foot facility. This allows us to provide a variety of activities such as swimming (optional), outdoor playground, outdoor track, and our multi-purpose room. Have peace of mind knowing your children are looked after by our trained and knowledgeable staff. YMCA participates in the CATCH KIDS program under the we can!® initiative promoting activities that keep children moving and active and help form good health and wellness, Click here for more information.
Transportation
We offer daily bus schedules from most Ware County Schools. The YMCA owns a fleet of buses that have been inspected and certified as safe by the State of Georgia Department of Transportation. All YMCA bus drivers have a valid (CDL) driver’s license and have passed stringent background and drug tests. In addition to a certified bus driver, the transportation service usually provides at least one counselor on pick-up services routes.
Supervision
Your children are supervised by trained counselors at least 18 years of age. Before being employed by the YMCA they are required to pass a drug test, criminal background screening, and commit to 10 hours of training. CPR certifications and safety seminars are also requirements. Most counselors are college students who are interested in pursuing teaching degrees. Typically groups are divided up according to ages and are as small as 10-15 children per counselor.
Payments
Y-TIME payments are due on Friday for the following week’s childcare. If payment is not received by the following Monday at 6:00 pm you will owe a late fee of $5.00. As long as your child is enrolled, payments are due every Friday. Y-TIME offers one week of vacation time from Y-TIME per year payment free.
To withdraw your child from Y-TIME you will need to provide the YMCA with a two week notice.
Drop In Service
During the School year, if School is closed for furlough days or some other necessary day out you may bring your Y-TIME child to the YMCA all day when this occurs. If you chose to do this you will owe an additional $10.00 for each day your child is here all day. On those days make sure you pack a lunch for your child. We will provide a snack for them.
