The Childers Family YMCA has something for all ages. Our state of the art preschool was renovated in 2009 and s for ages 2,3,4 and our afterschool program includes bus pick up at your child’s school, healthy snack, tutoring, homework, and lots of fun. If you have small children and are working out we can accompany ages 6 weeks – 12 years in our Child Development Center area. Child Development Center was expanded in 2010 and included 3 large rooms with windows and colorful murals so parents and see their children and walk by and check on them during your workouts.

YMCA CHILDCARE

Child Development Center (Accommodating Children 6wks to 12 Yrs Old)

Quality child watch is a complimentary service available to our members who have their children on their Family Membership. Our professionally trained staff will care to your young child(ren) while you enjoy a good work-out, or participate in other YMCA sponsored programs. The YMCA Child Development Center program is available to infants, ages 6 weeks, through children who are up to12-years of age. The Child Development Center facility is designed to separate the children by age, with age appropriate activities.

The room separations accommodate children age 6 wks- 3 yrs old in a Nursery setting with age appropriate activities and toys. Our Nursery is themed like Old McDonald’s Farm setting with a playhouse cottage. Children in diapers are cared for with toys and games designed for their age group. Our facilities accommodate changing tables and soft padded floors.

Children ages 4 yrs and up play and learn in a separate room entitled The Discovery Center. In our Discovery Center these older aged children are able to build and create things through using our spacious Legos tables and Duplo Lego wall board. The Discovery Center also has a rock climbing wall and cave for fun adventurous activities.

Our Child Development Center Art Center serves all age children with age appropriate arts and crafts. Our staff will inspire your child’s artistic talents while you enjoy a work out or relax in our facilities.

Kids Zone is a large indoor air-conditioned room with games such as Foosball and Pool Tables as well as a huge indoor playground. Our Kids Zone usually opens up during the evening Child Development Center hours (6-8pm) and provides the space needed for older children play with other children their age.

• Follow the Christian Principles of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
• Water only, no food or drinks permitted
• Wear appropriate attire for a family facility:
• Work out shorts or pants
• T-shirts with appropriate logos
• Athletic tops covering stomach
• Tennis shoes (no sandals or open toe shoes)
• No swimwear allowed
• Must be 16 (sixteen) years of age to enter Wellness Center.
Youth ages 12-15 may use Fitness Center after passing Teen Certification.
• Please do not drop or bang weights. This could damage or crack weight stack.
• Replace weights after use.
• Chalk is not permitted in Wellness Center
• Allow others to “work in” or take turns.
• Wipe off equipment after use.
• While others are waiting, limit cardio to 30 minutes
• All personal clothing and gym bags must be placed in locker rooms.
• Please keep any other personal belonging in your possession at all times.
• Grunting and loud noises are distracting and offensive to others.
• Drugs, including tobacco and alcohol will not be tolerated.
• Profanity will not be tolerated in any circumstance.
• Report violations of the rules or damaged equipment to the YMCA staff immediately.

SweatShop: Anything and everything you could imagine to get your heart pumpin’ and your endorphins flowing! A melting pot of all of our best classes! Guaranteed to have you wiping sweat off your brow!
CRUNK: Cycling class gone crazy! This is not your usual spin class. Burn extra calories and get your sweat on while you get CRUNK
TRX Body Blast: TRX suspension training meets total body circuit training. Work every muscle, head to toe, including your heart… we will have you panting in this ever-changing workout.

Scuba Classes

Here at the YMCA we are pleased to announce that we are hosting Scuba Diving courses.

Fall Swim Team

Joyce Arnold, coach of the YMCA Torpedoes was excited to get the Fall Swim Team season underway. “Wow! It was great getting in the pool again after a 2 month vacation. We had a lot returning swimmers and a lot of new faces!! I am excited about the upcoming season”. The torpedoes recently joined Florida First Coast YMCA’s for competitions. This gives us more swim meets to go to during the winter months and we are looking forward competing with these teams.
