Top 10 Pool Rules

  • Must wear a swim suit (no cutoffs or gym shorts)
  • Must be 48 inches to enter pool without an adult
  • No running on deck
  • No diving in shallow end
  • Lifeguard must be on deck for you to swim
  • No Horse play
  • Children must pass swim test in order to swim in 12 ft of water without an adult
  • No inflatable devices in pool
  • Swimmers must shower before entering pool
  • Everyone Must obey Lifeguard
  • No extended underwater breath holding or hyperventilating before underwater swimming.
  • Lap swimmers are to swim continuously within the lap lanes only.

EMERGENCIES:
1 LONG WHISTLE BLAST: Signals an emergency, all swimmers must leave pool immediately.
1 SHORT WHISTLE BLAST: Signals that the lifeguard needs the attention of a particular swimmer.

YMCA policy is that children under the age of eight (8) must be accompanied by person 18 years or older when using the swimming pool. The Swim Care program allows parents to children between the age of eight (8) and fifteen (15) at the pool in the supervision of a lifeguard staff for periods of up two (2) hours. Parents, please be advised some children enjoy playing in the pool for extended period of time while others do not. Ensure you child is prepared to stay in the pool for the length of time you are away.

All children 15 and under must have an adult presence at the YMCA facility.

LIFEGUARD SUPERVISION: Lifeguards will recognize children wearing wrist bands as youth directly under their supervision. The Swim Care Lifeguard will have parents sign their children in when they arrive and sign out when they leave The Swim Care Lifeguard will explain pool and Swim Care rules to children assigned to the program The Swim Care Lifeguard will perform routine head counts and wellness checks on children in Swim Care.
